The following video is a scene from the movie “Almost Famous.” This movie was released in 2000. If you’re a fan of 1970’s rock & roll you must see this movie. It is by Cameron Crowe and is largely autobiographical. The main character, William is a 15 year old journalist working for Rolling Stone magazine on an article about a fictional band, Stillwater. Philip Seymour Hoffman is a mentor to William and plays legendary rock journalist Lester Bangs. In the first clip the lead singer for the band has just been found after deserting the band. He is placed on the bus by the band’s manager and there is a great deal of tension among the band members. William, feeling homesick and alienated, just wants to go home. On a personal note, my first pair of sunglasses were identical to the ones worn by the guy at the 1:24 mark. I think I wore them only one time because I wasn’t quite cool enough.
The second scene is for those of us who were never quite cool enough.
