In the movie No Country For Old Men, Javier Bardem plays Anton Chiguhr, a ruthless hit man. He has been hired by drug dealers to recover some stolen drug money. During his search for the money he leaves a path of mayhem and murder. He has a bizarre lethal contraption that operates like a gun tied to an extremely powerful air compressor. I’m sure there’s a name for it. It is brutally effective.
In most cases Anton kills his victim without warning but in this scene Anton gives the guy a chance-a flip of the coin. And the guy doesn’t even know what he is playing for. It’s a great movie.
I’m putting this in the persuasion category because of the power of knowledge. Knowing that you hold all of the cards and that you alone will determine the outcome of your negotiations is extremely rare but incredibly powerful. Do not squander the moments when you have the upper hand.
